Plant porn Phriday: crazy green girlie stuff

Happy, happy Friday!

It’s been a long, HOT-cha-cha week and I’m pleased to end it with a few jolly green porno pics, as promised. Once again, we have genius Backyard Biologist photographer and teacher Ally Via to thank for keeping us in plant porn. (I am so grateful to Ally for making me laugh at all the right times this week!)

The shot above, Ally says she took a long time ago; she’s not sure what it is. We all know what it looks like. ‘Nuff said. Wow. Wow.

This one she was able to identify as Catchweed – or Galium aparine, if you wanna get all fancy – only after some googling, which included at least one search using the words “plant green hairy balls.” (She reports she almost slipped up and just googled “hairy balls,” which would have returned some very interesting results, I’m sure. Not trying it, honest!)

Ally sent me another extremely funny shot I’m holding on to for now – bless her! Just saving a little plant porn for a rainy day. (And some rain would be really nice right now, break up this record-setting heat wave a little and comfort my poor scorched Hosta and Heuchera. And don’t even get me started on my drooping Gay Feather and fried Yarrow. Anyone else scorched, drooping and fried today?)

Also thanks to my pal Jamie, who texted me a picture of some obscene green – it has to be said – dildo-looking pine cone-like plant she saw at the park. If I can figure out how to get it from my old-school cell to my computer, we can all try to figure out what the hell it is. Maybe it’s time for plantkiller’s first contest…Name that Porn.

I really love that when you all see naughty plants now, you think of me.
