Plant porn Phriday

I can't stop laughing at this plant

OK, I know it’s really, really wrong… (and the “Phriday” is an almost criminal force, but hey, I’m a sucker for alliteration) but the anthurium on my sun porch is so porno. I love it.

AND it’s doing really well in this beautiful, antique pot I picked up at a local flea palace in Lunenburg. I’ve got it in a cheerful, fairly sunny spot, and its leaves are all waxy and happy looking. Plus, new blooms are coming… see the little bud hiding out in back?

Sigh… thank you, saucy anthurium. You’re making up for the evil, maddening begonias dying a few feet away. (Giant rant on that to come, with depressing pictures. Oh joy!)

Interestingly, plant porn… not so common! I googled it thinking I would find tons of way-too-naughty shots, but it turns out more serious types use the term largely to describe really heavenly garden vistas. (I get it. Like anything can be porn, if it’s eye-candy enough.)

I do have to point out this promising-looking Plant Porn 2011 calendar I found, featuring what looks like the real deal. I just might order it and if I do, plantkiller readers will get a Full Monty of a report. (!)

This post is making me feel increasingly immature. Way too much fun.

Silly gardeners, if you’re reading… send me funny pics of your favorite plant porn*?

More juvenile giggles, please?

(* Important: PLANTS ONLY! I do not want to see any people parts in these photos!)

I cannot, by the way, banish from my mind this obscene carrot my mom pulled out of the garden a million years ago… before the days of digital photography, sadly. It literally had two little legs and a smaller stump in the middle. Priceless. It wasn’t quite this good, but close.)
